
Tony Scully
Tony is a scientist by background, beginning his career in medical diagnostics, working on immunoassays to detect exposure to infectious diseases and immunological ‘memory’ as well as organ biomarkers.
While reading for a masters in science journalism, Tony got his big break as a cub reporter for the journal Nature, writing news and news features. After a stint managing peer-reviewed journals for Future Medicine, Tony returned to Nature and held a variety of editorial roles as well as developing new products and services as part of Nature’s publishing team. Tony joined The Pharmaceutical Journal in 2014, leading the successful implementation of its digital editorial strategy.
Tony became Publisher of The Pharmaceutical Journal in 2016 as part of the executive team at Pharmaceutical Press, the knowledge business of the Royal College of Pharmacy, leading its portfolio of editorial and educational products.
In 2026, Tony was appointed to the newly created role of director of publishing & product for the Royal College of Pharmacy with responsibilities for editorial and product innovation across the organisation, joining the new executive team. Tony is always looking to develop new, better ways of working that supports talented editorial teams to create exclusive, data-driven journalism and high-quality content which supports and amplifies organisation mission.
